Shape Tool
The Shape tool allows users to add and modify geometric elements within their design, such as rectangles, circles, and custom shapes layout of a outdoor area. Users can resize, rotate, and position these shapes to accurately represent the layout of a deck, ensuring precise alignment and structure. Users can insert various shapes such asrectangles, circles, or custom shapeto define different areas of the deck (e.g., floor panels, railings, or steps).
- Shapes can beresized and scaledproportionally or freely to match the required deck dimensions. This flexibility helps users represent real-world measurements within the digital workspace.
- Each shape can berotated, moved, and alignedprecisely on the design canvas. This ensures that all components of the deck maintain correct orientation and spatial balance.
- Users can adjust thecolor, opacity, and border propertiesof each shape to differentiate between materials or design sections.
- Shapes can be arranged infront or behindother elements, allowing for clear layering and organization when working with complex designs.
How to Use the Shape Tool
- Click on theShape Toolfrom the design toolbar.
- Select the desired shape type (e.g., rectangle, circle, polygon).
- Click and drag on the design canvas to create the shape.
- Use theresize handlesto adjust dimensions as needed.
- Rotate the shape using the rotation control.
- Modify color or opacity through theColororOpacitytools for better visual distinction.
- Move and align the shape with other elements using drag-and-drop or grid guidelines.
Additional Notes
- Shapes can represent any structural or decorative component of a deck layout.
- Multiple shapes can be combined to createcomplex layoutssuch as multi-level decks or step designs.
- All shape adjustments arenon-destructive, meaning users can modify or delete shapes anytime during the design process.
Color Tool
The Color Tool allows users to modify the appearance of design elements by changing their fill and stroke colors. It provides an easy way to visualize different material finishes, highlight boundaries, and create professional-looking deck layouts that reflect realistic color schemes.
When users click theColoricon from the top menu, a color customization panel appears with the following options:
- Fill / Stroke Tabs:
- Fill:Controls theinner colorof a shape or design element.
- Stroke:Controls theborder color(outline) of the selected shape or element.
- None Option:
SelectingNoneremoves the fill or stroke color, making the area transparent. - Color Palette:
A set ofpredefined colorsis provided for quick selection. These include neutral tones, material-like shades (wood, gray, black, beige), and vibrant colors (red, blue, green) for visual differentiation.
How to Use the Color Tool
- Select the element (shape, surface, or border) you want to recolor.
- Click theColor Toolicon in the top toolbar.
- Choose whether to modify theFillorStrokecolor:
- UseFillto change the main surface color.
- UseStroketo adjust the border or outline color.
- Select a color from the palette or chooseNoneto leave it transparent.
- The selected color will be applied immediately to the chosen element on the design canvas.
Ruler Tool
The Ruler tool provides precise measurement capabilities, allowing users to check dimensions and distances within their designs. This ensures that all elements are correctly scaled, properly aligned, and compliant with design standards.
- Shows real-time distances between selected points on the design canvas in feet and inches
- Automatically updates measurement values as the user moves or resizes endpoints
- Supportshorizontal,vertical, anddiagonalmeasurements, helping visualize layout proportions precisely.
- Arrows on both ends clearly indicate measurement direction.
- Each ruler line includes a floating action toolbar allowing users toduplicate,reorder (bring to front/back), ordeletethe measurement line for quick adjustments.
- Helps users verify spacing consistency between furniture, shapes, and deck boundaries.
- Measurements directly correspond to the grid’s real-world scale, allowing users to plan deck dimensions accurately for construction or visualization purposes.
How to Use the Ruler Tool:
- Click on theRulericon in the top toolbar.
- Move the cursor to the starting point on the canvas and click once.
- Drag to the desired end point and click again to place the ruler line.
- The tool automatically displays the measured distance in feet and inches.
- Use the floating toolbar toduplicate,flip, ordeletethe measurement line.
- To adjust the measurement, drag either endpoint to a new position; the value updates automatically.
Text Tool
TheText Toolallows users to add text elements-such as labels, annotations, and instructions—directly onto the layout design. It is useful for marking measurements, naming sections, indicating product types, or adding project-specific notes to improve design clarity and communication.
Text labels can be customized infont size,color, andstyle (bold), giving users full control over how information appears within their layout.
- Add Editable Text Elements– Place text anywhere on the canvas to describe areas like “deck Section,” “Lounge Zone,” or “Dining Area.”
- Font Customization– Modify font size, color, and style for better visibility or categorization.
- Instant Editing– click or use theInfo (i)icon to reopen and edit text content or formatting.
- Scalable and Rotatable– Resize and rotate text to fit layout orientation or design preferences.
- Interactive Toolbar– Each text element includes a floating toolbar for duplication, layering (bring forward/backward), and deletion.
How to Use the Text Tool:
- Click on theTexticon located in the top toolbar.
- Click anywhere on the grid canvas to insert a text field.
- Enter your desired label or annotation (e.g.,“Sample Text”).
- Use the bounding box handles to adjust text size or rotation directly on the canvas.
- To modify text properties, click theInfo (i)icon from the floating toolbar to open theLabel Textdialog box.
In theLabel Textpopup: - Enter or edit the text content.
- Choosefont size(e.g., 48 pt).
- Selecttext color(e.g., Black, Gray, White).
- EnableBold (B)for emphasis.
- ClickOKto apply changes orCloseto cancel.
- The text updates immediately on the design canvas.
Hand Tool
The Hand tool allows users to move around the design canvas without altering any elements. This is especially useful when working on large designs or zoomed-in areas, as it provides easy navigation across the workspace.
- Move around the canvas safely without modifying or selecting design elements.
- Provides fluid movement across the grid to access all parts of the layout.
- Works efficiently with zoom in/out tools, ensuring convenient viewing control during detailed work.
- Quickly activate the Hand Tool by holding down theSpacebar, then drag to move the view.
How to Use the Hand Tool:
- Click theHandicon in the top toolbar to activate the tool.
- Move the cursor to the design canvas.
- Click and hold theleft mouse button, then drag in any direction to reposition the view.
- Release the mouse button to stop panning.
- To resume editing objects, select any other tool (e.g., Shape or Text).
Opacity Tool
TheOpacity Toolallows users to control the transparency level of shapes and design elements on the canvas. By adjusting opacity, users can visualize overlapping components, analyze spatial depth, and plan layered designs effectively. This feature enhances clarity when combining multiple shapes, images, or product placements within the same workspace.
- Adjust Transparency Levels: Control how visible or transparent a selected shape or element appears.
- Enhanced Layer Visualization: Useful for understanding the spatial relationship between overlapping components, such as layout areas, furniture zones, and walkways.
- Instant Preview: Changes in opacity are applied immediately, helping users visualize design variations in real time.
- Non-Destructive Adjustment: Modifying opacity does not alter the shape’s size, position, or color; it only affects visibility.
How to Use the Opacity Tool:
- Select any shape, object, or image on the canvas.
- Click on theOpacityicon in the top toolbar.
- A slider or preset options will appear to adjust transparency.
- Move the slider left todecreaseopacity (make the object more transparent) or right toincreaseopacity (make it more solid).
- The transparency effect updates immediately on the canvas.
Undo/Redo
TheUndoandRedotools help users manage their design workflow efficiently by allowing them to reverse or reapply recent changes. These tools provide flexibility during the creative process, enabling users to experiment with shapes, colors, and layouts freely—without the fear of making irreversible mistakes.
TheUndo Toolreverts the most recent action, while theRedo Toolreapplies an action that was previously undone. Together, they ensure that users can maintain full control over their design edits and progress.
- Instantly revert the last action performed using theUndooption.
- Restore an undone action with theRedooption.
- Helps correct accidental deletions, movements, or color changes without restarting the design.
- Maintains a sequential history of all user actions during the session.
- Supports multiple levels of undo and redo, allowing navigation through several previous steps.
- Improves workflow efficiency by ensuring no permanent loss of progress.
- Works seamlessly with all tools such asShape,Text,Color,Ruler, andOpacity.
- Preserves the logical order of edits to ensure design consistency after reversions.
How to Use:
- Locate theUndoandRedoicons in theTop Toolbar.
- Click theUndoicon to reverse your most recent change (for example, deleting a shape, color update, or text movement).
- Click theRedoicon to reapply the previously undone action.
- Repeat multiple times to move backward or forward through your recent editing steps.
- Continue designing as usual after undoing or redoing your progress will remain intact.
- Undo/Redo operations are temporary and are reset if the browser is refreshed or a new project is started.
