Commercial Grills

Fire Rings are a variety of grills as well. Used to keep the fire in a contained space, fire rings sometimes have a grill on the top to double the function. They come in several heights and can be ADA compliant. When the grill is attached, some even have adjustable grill heights. These are typically found at campgrounds and used at camp sites.

Commercial Umbrellas

Our market umbrellas are wind tested and will not deform from outdoor exposure. We use fiberglass for the ribs that hold the fabric. Fiberbuilt’s motto is “Flexibility is our Greatest Strength”. These market umbrellas will sometimes come with a wind vent and use heavy duty aluminum poles for strength. They standard fabric we use is marine grade Sunbrella solution dyed acrylic. They offer shade from the sun and look great on outdoor patios, pool, picnic areas and cafes or bistros. These market umbrellas have incredible strength and flexibility to absorb strong wind and abuse. They have a rust free frame due to stainless and aluminum hardware with nylon parts. The sturdy pole may be aluminum or wood and offers stability with no breakage or permanent bending that distorts appearance. Umbrellas come in 7 ½, 9 or 11 foot in diameter. Specialty umbrellas may be fiberglass, cantilever 10 foot x10 foot square, aluminum or ever come with thatch coverings. Some times people prefer patio or garden umbrellas at home which are usually smaller and have a valance around the top. Internationally umbrellas are sometimes referred to as parasols.  Today it is a healthcare issue to reduce exposure to the sun and umbrellas are not only beautiful, but functional as well.

Recycled Plastic Furniture

Recycled Content:
Recycled-content lumber can contain as much as 100% post-consumer plastic or a blend of recycled plastic and recycled wood waste. Buying recycled-content lumber conserves energy and keeps plastic waste out of landfills and incinerators.

Less Hazardous:
When used in suitable applications, plastic lumber offers an excellent alternative to chemically treated wood because it does not leach toxic chemicals into the soil or water. For more information about potential alternatives, refer to "Treated Wood 8-2."

Often preferred to natural wood, plastic lumber has proven itself in the market since the late 1990s. Today sales exceed $1 billion annually with some forecasts expecting that number to double by 2006.

Environmental benefits make recycled plastic lumber a good choice. Even small quantities can remove significant amounts of plastic from the waste stream: more than 750 recycled milk jugs and detergent bottles, for example, are used to make a single four-foot long plastic bench.

Increased quality and expanded uses have also contributed to success. Since widespread adoption of the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) standards, improved plastic lumber products have been used in park benches, picnic tables, decks, docks, playground equipment, pallets, and even foot bridges. New uses have followed the introduction of stronger products featuring fiber-reinforced structural recycled plastic.

The growing success of plastic lumber is due to increased quality and expanded uses. More manufacturers have adopted the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) standards. The improved product has proven popular in park benches, picnic tables, decks, docks, playground equipment, pallets, and even foot bridges. At the same time, new uses are now possible with the introduction of stronger products featuring fiber-reinforced structural recycled plastic.

Locally, recycled plastic lumber is replacing wood in many applications:

In 2004, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) installed benches made from recycled plastic lumber in the following state parks: Lake Carlos, Myre-Big Island, and Lake Louise.

DNR used XPotential , made from recycled plastic and auto parts, in a retaining wall in William O'Brien State Park, trail edging at the Sand Dune State Forest, and as edging for handicap accessible camp sites at Lac qui Parle and Forestville State Parks.

St. Paul’s Como Park added over 150 recycled picnic tables and benches , which has also provided benches for metro parks and community trail systems.

The City of Bloomington bought recycled plastic benches and tables for its ice arena, senior center, and swimming pool complex. They used two manufacturers: The Plastic Lumber Company , located in Akron, Ohio, and Fibrex  located in Chesapeake, Virginia.

The City of Minneapolis installed recycled decking planks along two boardwalks – one at Lake of the Isles and another below Minnehaha Falls. The planks are made from recycled plastic and wood and are produced by Trex, located in Winchester, Virginia.

Performance

Plastic lumber can be used in place of wood for many applications. While there are a few differences in working with plastic lumber, typically these are easily addressed in the installation instructions provided by vendors.

Attributes include:

Works like wood, and can be sawed and drilled using ordinary tools.
Weather-resistant and graffiti-resistant.
No waterproofing, staining or regular maintenance required
Long lasting; many manufacturers guarantee their products to last for 50 years and replace planks that may occasionally crack or splinter in extreme temperatures.
Unaffected by bacteria, worms, insects, fungi or rodents.
Sold in a variety of standard dimensional sizes, colors and textures.
Some heavy-duty tables and benches are made with metal frames or legs to give added durability and security.
For machining purposes, plastic lumber is equivalent to hard woods.

Generally, plastic lumber is best suited for low-load structural applications, such as tables, benches, or decking planks used in piers and walkways. It is not intended for primary structural load-bearing elements, such as posts, joists, and beams. When installing plastic lumber, consideration should be given to the effect temperature fluctuations have on the expansion and contraction of the product.

Fiber reinforced recycled plastic lumber products are also available.  Typically fiberglass or wood, the added fiber gives additional stiffness and strength to the lumber, improving its performance in structural applications. Purchasers are encouraged to research their options to select the product which best meets their needs.

Since 1997, when the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) established structural and property standards for plastic lumber, many companies have adopted the standards. Industry adoption has contributed to the market acceptance of recycled plastic lumber used in structural applications. Made by over 30 manufacturers nationwide, recycled plastic lumber products are widely available throughout the United States. Locally, recycled plastic lumber and decking products can be found at many lumber and home improvement stores, as well as through local distributors and manufacturers. Cost

Although the initial cost to purchase recycled plastic lumber products averages 20% to 50% more than the price of wood, payback is typically in two to four years when factoring in reduced maintenance and replacement costs. Some manufacturers assert that reducing those costs makes plastic lumber ultimately less costly than even the least expensive natural wood on the market.  Guaranteeing their product to last up to 50 years, many manufacturers offer free replacement for planks that crack or splinter.

Specifications

The level of recycled-content material used in plastic lumber varies. Some plastic lumber products contain as much as 100% post-consumer plastic, while others contain none at all. Because not all plastic lumber is made from recycled materials, be sure to specify recycled content when purchasing this product

Commercial picnic tables

Wood Picnic Tables

Our wooden picnic tables are very popular, offering economy and function. All wooden picnic tables are ACQ (non-arsenic) treated reducing any material rot due to climate or insects. These wooden picnic tables will initially have a greenish tint that will age to a silver gray. Most frames are galvanized to reduce rust and corrosion. Many can come equipped for a surface mount or in ground mount. A variety of them are made of redwood and coated with a sealer. The sealer gives it a natural color and preserves the material. It is necessary to re-coat it periodically to maintain the great look of the wooden picnic tables.

Public Bike Racks

Bleacher frames are commonly either made from Aluminum or Galvanized steel. The aluminum is lighter in weight and saves on shipping costs initially. Aluminum also does not rust.

An option that can be added on the smaller (up to 27 feet x 3 rows) bleachers is “Tip and Roll” Heavy duty mar-resistant casters added to the frame allow the bleacher to be tipped on its side and rolled making it easy to move as needed. It also assists in storage.

Bleachers are common for outdoor sporting events, concerts, plays, indoor games for basket ball or volley ball. Outdoor soccer, football and Lacrosse are common games for bleacher use. The seats can be made from aluminum, plastic coated steel, wood, recycled plastic. If the bleachers exceed 30 inches overall height local codes usually require double foot boards with risers and guardrails to for safety. Some bleacher are made with a low-rise measurement which means the seats do not rise as much above each other to keep the overall height lower. Standard rise is 8 inches while low rise is 6 inches. Evolution of the Casual Furniture Market Place

The Casual Furniture Industry is a Multi Billion dollar industry providing Chaise Lounges, Pool Furniture, Patio Furniture, Tables, Outdoor Chairs and Casual Dining Sets. Prior to the past several years the industry has been dominated by many Domestic Companies such as Brown Jordan, Telescope, Tropitone, Woodard and others. Distribution occurred mainly through specialty furniture retailers. The industry is very seasonal and requires manufacturing to cycle with the demand. These are some of the reasons that imported goods have been slow to penetrate the US market. The cost to ship containers made it difficult for Imports to be profitable. However, as with many sectors of the US market, the available margin between the selling price of the domestic goods and the cost of imported goods made it feasible to sell large quantities through the mass market retailers.

The past 5 years has seen imported casual furniture market quickly change. Foreign manufactures began to court mass retailers and find enough shelf space to handle sending containers from China and other Asian Countries. Grocery stores Walmart/Sam’s Club, Cosco, Kmart, Sears and the large Box Retailers brought cheaper imported furniture for store stock. Tables, Chairs that had held higher domestic value were ”knocked off” for a lower price. This furniture limited the style and color options. For instance, “you can have any color you want just as long as it is white!”.

 Consumers found the tradeoff acceptable—lower price with fewer options. However, limited style wasn't’t the only compromise. Many times there was a difference in quality as well.  Imports commonly used steel to reinforce aluminum tubing which rusts. Many times the furniture left out in the weather would leave rust stains on the floor and furniture.  Finish quality also failed to meet customers’ expectation as paint flaked off and was not up to domestic standards.

Pressure of imports, costs of raw materials and energy costs are and have been accelerating prices giving way to inflation. Manufacturers will have to be keen to compete or loose more domestic business.
